There are a number of keyboard short cuts when viewing the tags. The main tag window must have the input focus for these to work.
General short cuts
- F1 - opens the application HTML help
- F3 - will write the tag for which ever version is showing in the main window
- Ctrl-A will change and to & in the artist name
- Ctrl-I will open the 'Frame information' window.
- Ctrl-N is 'Next tag'
- Ctrl-P is 'Prev tag'
- Ctrl-R is 'Rename file'
- Ctrl-S will swap Artist and title fields over.
- Ctrl-T Tidy Field. This will
- Change underscores to real spaces
- Upper-case first letter of each word, while lower-casing the rest
- Remove the file extension (/mp3)
- Ctrl-U, the standard wimp keypress, will always clear the writable field containing the caret, whether the internal clipboard is active or not
- Ctrl-W is 'Write tag'
- It may sometimes be useful to be able to copy the file leafname into another field, e.g. when a tag is being added to a file that has already been named with the artist and song title. The use of the key combination Ctrl-Shift-End will copy the file leafname into the field containing the caret. On some keyboards the End key may be marked Copy. There is a Choices... setting which determines whether the leafname is simply transferred as is, or whether it is tidied first (see Tidy field above)
Cut/Copy/Paste
When using ID3TagEds internal facility the following short cuts are implemented for the main tag window.
- Ctrl-B will delete the text from the beginning of the line up to the caret. Ctrl-Shift-B will do the same, but the deleted text is saved to the clipboard and may be pasted to another field
- Ctrl-C - Copy whole field to the internal clipboard
- Ctrl-E will delete the text from the caret to the end of the text. Ctrl-Shift-E will do the same, but the deleted text is saved to the clipboard and may be pasted to another field
- Ctrl-V - Paste to the caret from the internal clipboard
- Ctrl-X - Cut whole field to the internal clipboard
